My surgeon called on Monday evening to tell me that he had the pathology report. There is one area where the margin was “dirty” and two of the lymph nodes that were removed had cancer. So we’re going to do it again. I have a second surgery – similar but more aggressive – scheduled for 15 December. I’ll spend one night in the hospital this time.
At the same time, my father has become critically — terminally — ill, so Jerry and I are going to make a very quick trip to Michigan to see him and spend some time with my mother. We leave this Saturday, the 6th and will return the following Saturday. Just in time to shift gears and prepare for surgery.
As my friend, Cathy, said today, you couldn’t make this stuff up. Not the holiday that I was anticipating, for sure.
