Day 6 – At Sea

—3 May 2012—

Our first “at sea” day

We enjoyed a restful day. No where to be early. Got up a bout 9:15. No land in sight. We went to breakfast about 10:30 and took our time, visiting with Lisa from Indiana at the next table. We finally hooked up with Cruise Critics about 11:45, 15 minutes into their meet up. We were able to connect with Cece and Fritz from Minnesota who organized the Athens trip we joined. No joy for a last minute connection for a CruiseCritic group for Istanbul. 😦

Got our laundry back

The we donned bathing suites and headed for the pool, along with hundreds of our closest friends. We spent the whole afternoon there. I visited with Barbara from New York for quite a while. I fetched ice water and a plate of fruit, cheese and quick breads to share for lunch. On a quick trip to our cabin, I discovered that our laundry (all you can fit in a paper bag for $35.00) had been returned and left on the bed, folded and in a basket. Later we had margaritas (special from 2:00-6:00 for $4.95). We finished in the jaccuzzi, where we enjoyed a long chat with a fellow from Florida who had cruised and RV’d a lot and was a good source for more in our cruising data bank.

I showered and we dressed for dinner in the main dining room, Windows. I started with a great crab cake and Jerry with tortilla soup. We both had a steak and shrimp entree with green beans ad mashed potatoes. We bought a bottle of Australian Cabernet and each had a glass. Our server, Placido, labeled the remainder and put it up for a future meal. Jerry had apple pie for dessert, and I had lemon sorbet.

We stopped by the Stardust Theater and caught the end of Incanto, an acrobatic dance performance by husband-and-wife duo Massimo and Alisia (she a former gold medalist from Belarus in Olympic gymnastics at the Atlanta games). We made our way back to our room, where Jerry watched the end of The Artist while I wrote. I was ready to turn in, as we had an 8:15 start for our short day in Mykonos the next day.

Beautiful sunset from the fantail
